I just love getting hatties in the mail from Topsy Turvy! The latest to add to my collection is the Katie. Kim made my fascinator with satin and red feathers and the most delicate veiling with Swarovski rhinestones. Delish!

I did a photo shoot with my fellow performers Rose Darling and Ginger Valentine last night at the Lakewood, and as we were leaving, Rose snapped this photo on her iPhone. We are all very excited about the Atomic Frolic show.
I also have some fantatisc and juicy burlesque news! There will be more shows like the Spring Swing and Atomic Frolic, with some of the best burlesque talent of our time! But shhhhh! I can’t spill the beans yet. A girl’s gotta keep some secrets!
Here I am in Las Vegas!
I got here late Wednesday evening after a brief delay at the airport. I did some major shopping yesterday at the Forums at Caesar’s Palace. I have blisters to prove it from all that walking. I stopped at my favourite lingerie boutique, Agent Provocateur and bought the loveliest lace bra and a pair of French ox-blood red patent leather stilettos. Yum!
After my shopping excursion, I rested up and attended the opening ceremony. Pasties, g-string and glitter! Not to mention a lot of twirly gals. A couple of them even went all the way down….covering up with a fan or a boa!
Tonight, I will be attending the Titans of Tease, featuring all the past Miss Exotic World winners and the “legends” of burlesque, including Tempest Storm, Dixie Evans and Dusty Summers! This is my favourite show! I am excited to see Catherine D’Lish perform. She is Dita von Teese’s costume maker and partner in crime. I am also looking forward to see Immodesty Blaize (Miss Exotic World 2007) perform. However, word has it that she may not be able to attend this year’s event.
Okay, time to get gussied up so I can go see the Burlesque Bazaar and hang out with Java from Bachelor Pad Magazine.
I will keep you posted, but in the mean time, for real time updates, catch me on Twitter.
Smooches!
It’s eleven o’clock and I am diligently packing. I am trying my bloody best not to over pack. That meant I had to invest in travel size toiletries. I also bought a memory card for my Crackberry so I can save more photos to post on Twitter.
Hopefully this time tomorrow I will be in a big comfy hotel bed in Las Vegas catching some zeees.
Drinking my French-pressed Café du Monde coffee, debating if I should go bicycling or clean my boudoir; I have champagne glasses, false eyelashes and rhinestones everywhere! I also need to start packing for my trip to the Burlesque Hall of Fame next week.
The weather is absolutely gorgeous today so I may have to go enjoy it.
Topsy Turvy designer, Kim Lee-Dye, makes me very happy with her exquisite doll hats, hair clips and fascinators. I am a proud owner of four creations from Kim, including a mini top hat for my Vouve Noir number. She is an absolute genius and very talented. Visit Topsy Turvy’s Etsy shoppe and have a look at her designs.
What a long and exciting weekend. I was in Austin for the Texas Burlesque Festival. I am still recuperating!
We got down to Austin in the early afternoon. It rained the entire time during our four hour drive. We made it just in time to attend the end of the TBF brunch. I saw Michelle L’ amour, the headliner of our Spring Swing Revue and some of my fellow performers from Austin and Dallas.
After brunch, I stopped by the event venue to have a look at the stage and dressing area. Michelle warned me earlier about the dressing area, but I had no idea; it was literally a separate space on the roof of the venue, accessible by an outdoor catwalk and set of very narrow, high-stepping plank stairs. Keep in mind, it was still raining. There was absolutely no way I would be able to navigate the stairs and catwalk in my costume. Instead, I wore my costume throughout the entire show, with a satin robe over my costume.
I had a lot of time to kill at the event as I was in the second half, almost at the end of the competition line-up. I was scheduled to be on the stage at 12:30am. I am the kind of performer that likes to perform first or as early as possible in the lineup so I can get my number over with and start drinking. This meant that I could not drink and had to remain sober until after I perform. Ugh!
There were acts from all over the nation, even performers that will be performing and competing at the 2009 Miss Exotic World Pageant. There were lots of great talent and costumes. However, there was also an extreme usage of glitter. If I didn’t care much for glitter before this night, I certainly do now! It was all over the place. Glitter, a staple among burlesque performers of all calibers, is extremely difficult to clean up, no matter how many times you vacuum or sweep. It just never goes away. There are some theaters that absolutely forbid the use of glitter for this very reason.
I performed my abbreviated Vouve Noir number that I would have taken to Miss Exotic World because each routine had to be four minutes or under. The song I performed my number to, St. James Infirmary, is a slower song, so I had to get out there and wow the drunk and tired audience. Of course, more pressure as Michelle L’amour was one of the judges for the competition. Even though she’s seen me perform before, I was contending with other performers that have been doing this for longer than I have. So, I had some wowing to do. And boy did I! I managed to clinch the title of Best Soloist for the 2009 Texas Burlesque Festival! I assure you, there will be some celebrating this week.

Getting gussied up for a private party, Moulin Rouge style!
With much regret and a heavy heart, La Divina Management is sorry to announce that La Divina will not be performing at Hot Rods and Heels on May 16.
Best of luck to the finalists and the Hot Rods and Heels Production team.
